Deer, Elk, Antelope Hunting Regulations


Montana's deer, elk, and antelope seasons start at varying stages. Antelope archery is the earliest season starting on or around September 1, 2011 and the antelope rifle general season opens on or around October 5, 2011. The deer and elk general season starts on or around October 19, 2011 and generally runs through November 30, 2011.  Check applicable season dates by contacting the Montana Fish & Wildlife Department.

Initiative 161

With the passage of voter Initiative 161 in November 2010, the cost for Montana's 2011 Nonresident Big Game and Deer Combination licenses will increase.  Under the new voter-approved law some changes go into effect March 1, 2011. [Learn more]
