Brick Company Chosen for
County Bronze Project
A brick company from California, Laser Impressions, Inc., has been chosen to engrave the commemorative bricks that will pay for the monument project, “On Top of the World,” planned for the courthouse.
The total cost of the project is estimated at about $20,000. In addition to other expenses for the completion of the project, such as the cost of cement, lighting and final landscaping, this sum will pay for casting the monument in bronze and placing it on a permanent base.
Fund organizer Tess Brady said various brick companies had been researched and sample products had been ordered. Laser Impressions, Inc. was chosen for its pricing and its laser engraving. The ease of working with the company through e-mail was also a strong selling point.
Plans are to sell only 220 bricks at $100 each. These bricks will be sold throughout the county.
“I would personally like to see a good representation of families who have made this county what it is today,” said Brady. “Please remember your parents and grandparents, as this will be a lasting monument for all to enjoy.
“Remember, though,” Brady added, “it does not need to be a memorial brick. Anyone can have his/her name on a brick; any business can do the same, for that matter.”
The price of the brick to the Judith Basin Historical Society is tax deductible. Forms can be picked up at Basin State Bank or online at RussellCountry.com at the On Top of the World Bronze link.
Lillegard Studio will be casting the J.C. Dye bronze, and the remaining monies will be for the rock base, installation of the bricks in cement and lighting.
“If I can get the money raised by April 15,” Brady said, “Lillegard Studio will begin the casting of the bronze, and we will start on installation of the rock base.”
The final stage will be the placement of the commemorative bricks, benches and landscaping around the monument.
“I need and would like everyone’s support for this project,” Brady added, “and to all of you who have already donated to the cause, we are on our way!”
