Stanford Street Committee News Letter

October 20, 2011

In the last newsletter it was reported that the Street Committee recommended that the Town of Stanford approve a street maintenance levy to be put on the next ballot for voter approval.  It was approved by the Council, and ballots were sent out to the tax payers on October 19th.

To figure out how much you as a tax payer would pay toward the street maintenance account, take the taxable value that is in the upper right corner of your tax statement and multiply it by .027841.

Example:  Taxable Value 642 x .027841 = 17.87392

These monies will go into a Street Maintenance account for the Town of Stanford and will be strictly for maintaining streets and alleys.  This additional tax will not take effect until 2012, and will then be available for use in 2013.

This past week the Street Committee and Town of Stanford hired a contractor to fill cracks on Central Avenue.  The purpose of the project was to fill cracks to prevent moisture from penetrating below the existing surface during the winter months.  It is the goal of the committee to chip seal Central Avenue next  year.  In addition, the committee will continue to evaluate and prioritize streets for further improvements.

We will graciously accept any and all donations, as our intention is to keep working toward improving the street system in Stanford.  Donations may be mailed to:
