Thank You Everyone for Your Support!
In a combined collaborative effort to raise monies for the Athletic Department(s), Booster Club(s), Close-Up, BPA, FFA, and the Music department, the Stanford School Athletic Department obtained Bob Green, retired Montana Tech Football Coach, to be our guest speaker for our event held on March 23, 2012 for a Fundraiser Dinner, Auction/Raffle, ATV Fundraiser Community event.
Combining our efforts for an Annual Dinner Fundraiser and Auction/Raffle event assisted with continuing projects and educational trips for the students in our schools and also helped to keep the local dollar churning allowing the Communities, Local Businesses and School(s) to prosper.
Without a doubt, Coach Bob Green lived up to his reputation for being a great guest speaker! Good turnout and a fun auction too. Over 745 ATV Tickets were sold benefiting both the Stanford and Geyser Schools. The winner of the ATV was Shonny Nordlund of Lewistown! Thank you everyone for your support ~ very much appreciated ~ see you again next year!
Coach Bob Green, Coach Bob Green, known for his “Greenisms” is the best quote in college football. He's Bum Phillips reincarnated; Will Rogers with a whistle around his neck.
Bob Green retired as the Head Football Coach at Montana Tech following the 2010 season after leading the Orediggers for 24 seasons and spending almost 40 years in the coaching profession. During his tenure, Tech had its most successful period ever in football. Green compiled a record of 140 wins, 116 losses, and 1 tie. In the 78 years of football prior to Green’s arrival, Montana Tech had only won a total of 152 games, coupled with 272 losses.
During Coach Green’s time at the Butte college, the Orediggers placed first, tied for first, or second in the Frontier Conference 16 times. Green led the Diggers to the NAIA National Playoffs 5 times including the 1996 National Championship Game.
The Orediggers were the first ever Frontier Conference football team to play for the national title. Green also produced 15 first team All-American players during his tenure, two of those selections were two-time All-Americans.
Over 95 percent of Coach Green’s senior players obtained their degree while completing their eligibility. Green was a key figure in attracting the Bob Cleverley Class C All-Star Football Game to the Mining City. The game has been played in Butte for 22 years.
Green played defensive back for the University of Nebraska-Kearney for four years (1970,1971,1972,1973) before serving as an assistant with the Antelopes. He also spent stints on the football staffs at the University of Northern Colorado and Northwest Missouri State University. As a high school coach, Green headed up programs in Minatare, NE. and Broken Bow, NE.
Bob Green is a former United States Marine and Vietnam veteran. He and his wife, Pam, have three grown children and four grandchildren, all of whom live in Montana.
