Windham Community Hall
Recycled brick from a burned mercantile was used to build the Windham Community Hall complete with stage, balcony and basketball floor. A "Grand Opening Dance" was held on October 15, 1927 to commemorate the finishing of the building.
In 1930 another fire gutted the Hall. It was quickly revamped minus the balcony to provide more room and opened in time for fall basketball season.
The Windham School used the facility for many basketball games and because of the high quality of the floor many tournaments were held there. A building was moved in the later years and became the kitchen and dining area.
The stage came to life several times to host Christmas Programs, talent shows, auctions, and various plays. One Talent Show was packed with 700 people crowded inside and another 100 turned away at the door.
Windham Woman's Club is a vital part of the Hall with its support of cleaning, keeping the kitchen upgraded, and having fundraisers. The Windham Woman's Club still hosts several meetings there throughout the year.
At present, the Windham Community Hall is still the main hub of the town for community meetings, weddings, funerals, basketball, roller skating, exercise, and social functions for which there is a minimal fee.
